Canada Post was the first out of the gate. The Crown Corporation began airing its commercials for the holiday season sometime back in August, it seems (though it was probably closer to the middle of November). Then Starbucks started playing Christmas music to go along with their eggnog lattes. And now December is upon us and the holiday concert season is in full swing.

Here are a few choices coming this month in Vancouver, from the traditional to the decidedly non-traditional, including a burlesque take on the Nutcracker and an annual salute to the unsinkable Keith Richards.

Craft beer, food carts and burlesque dancers: It’s a match made in … Vancouver.

Beerlesque IV rolls into town Friday, Oct. 10, as part of Vancouver Craft Beer Week.  Held ins Yaletown’s Roundhouse Centre, the event brings together 20 local breweries and a lineup of the city’s top burlesque dancers.

Because it’s easy to work up an appetite from all that drinking and ogling, a few of Vancouver’s top food carts will also be on hand.  Meanwhile, Blackberry Wood will be rocking the house with their unique brand of country-gypsy-circus music, completing the “adult carnival” atmosphere.
