Open daily at dusk, the Light Walk is a free mountain-top activity that is a great excuse to get a bit more fresh air and exercise at night. You can walk through the fir and spruce around Blue Grouse Lake where light installations shine brightly through the dark night.

Vancouver Santa Claus Parade is Coming to Town this Weekend

Santa Claus really is coming to town this weekend in Downtown Vancouver! On December 3, 2017 Vancouver will play host to the annual Santa Claus Parade being held at noon on Sunday.

The parade is the largest Christmas parade celebrated in Western Canada and is a free, family-fun event. It also doubles as a food and fundraising event for the Greater Vancouver Food Bank Society and the CKNW Orphans’ Fund, making it a great event to kick off the holiday season!

The weather forecast is looking promising for Sunday, so hopefully the sun will shine down on the parade!

If you’re looking for an event to kickstart the holiday season, look no further than the 11th annual Vancouver Christmas Tree Lighting celebration happening this Friday, December 1, 2017 at the Vancouver Art Gallery (750 Hornby Street).

This free festival is a highlight for kids of all ages and includes music, crafts, free hot chocolate and cookies. In addition, Santa will be there to help light the trees (there will be four in total)!

The suspension bridge, Treetops Adventure, Cliffwalk, the rainforest and canyon are transformed into a world of festive lights and visual enchantment. Canyon Lights runs until Sunday, January 28, 2018 – so there’s plenty of time left to check out the dazzling display!

The streets of Gastown will be alive with the sound of music this Thursday, December 7, 2017 for a unique carolling experience. The evening plays host to the third annual Yule Duel, an outdoor event that pits dozens of local choirs in a street-carolling competition along Water Street.

The choirs perform around Gastown a selection of new and classic songs in a variety of styles. You are invited to sing along as the best in show go head-to-head in a series of sing-offs and cheer on your favourites as they compete for awards from the celebrity judges. Think: Pitch Perfect but in real life!

Lights at Lafarge is the Largest Free Outdoor Light Display in the Lower Mainland

Just a quick trip out of the city will take you into a dazzling display of lights at the annual Lights at Lafarge installation set up by the City of Coquitlam.

Wander around the waters edge of Lafarge Lake for some fun this winter with the lights shining from November 25, 2017 until January 21, 2018. There will also be a special pre-lighting event on opening night (November 25th) to celebrate the return of the fantastic light display!
