Week-long daytime event presents food truck fare during Dine Out Vancouver
The seventh annual Street Food City, Dine Out Vancouver Festival’s cheap n’ cheerful ‘food truck pod’ takes place January 22 – 28, from 11am – 3pm weekdays and 11am – 5pm weekends, at the Vancouver Art Gallery’s newly renovated plaza.

After the flurry and good cheer of the holidays, sometimes I experience a bit of deflation once I enter the New Year. Fortunately, Dine Out Vancouver is the solution to my January doldrums, with a plethora of delicious and affordable prix-fixe menus, as well as inventive food-related events.
While the restaurant names and their menus will be released January 11, 2018 (January 8, 2018 for Aeroplan members), tickets for the many events are currently available (and selling out quickly). Here are 5 events to particularly look forward to and book this year:

A full 17-day schedule of events that provide festivalgoers with unique culinary experiences. Guided dining adventures, brunch crawls, cocktail masterclasses, wine debates, guest chef dinners, BC VQA wine and craft beer tastings, street food markets and more are among the events at the 16th annual edition, Jan. 19-Feb. 4 2018.

The list of participating restaurants and menus will be made available to Aeroplan members on Jan. 8, 2018, and Jan. 11 to the general public. As a family of five, dining out usually means an early dinner at one of our local go-to kid-friendly dinner spots. We rarely stray from our standbys, because we never know if a new restaurant will have a suitable setting and the necessary supplies to host under-12 guests.
Each year, when the Dine Out Vancouver Festival list of participating restaurants is released, I browse longingly through the lineup, wishing I could enjoy some of the delectable dishes that are featured. I had always assumed that the festival was focused on an adults-only audience – until this year, when I recognized some familiar family-friendly food destinations. The highly anticipated 15th annual Dine Out Vancouver launches tomorrow (cue the trumpets)! If you don’t already have restaurant reservations lined up, don’t despair. There is still plenty of availability to choose from among the 284 restaurants participating with prix fixe menus ($20, $30, $40).
As well, the over 100 food experience events are also promising to be a culinary blast! One I’m particularly looking forward to combines three of my favourite things: art, food and drink, and Granville Island.

On these long, dark nights it’s helpful to take solstice in the fact that we’re almost more than half way to summer! If you take a trip down memory lane to last summer, you may recall spending a warm, summer evening checking out the local Vancouver food trucks and dining “a la cart” (pun intended) while watching the sun setting from English Bay.

A few years ago, a guy I was interested in suggested that we have dinner at a restaurant participating in Dine Out Vancouver (this year January 15-31). I readily agreed since I’m obsessed with food and restaurants in the city.
As I discovered, Dine Out is an excellent date idea for the following reasons:
