Easter 2011 at Stanley Park Miniature Train

Stanley Park’s famous Miniature Train—one of the Top 5 Activities for Kids at Stanley Park—has long played host to two of Vancouver’s favourite family holiday traditons: for Halloween, it becomes the Stanley Park Ghost Train, and for the winter holidays it transforms into Bright Nights. This year, the mini train is adding another holiday to its roster: Easter at Stanley Park on the Miniature Train.

Like the VanDusen Botanical Garden’s Great A-Mazing Egg Hunt, Easter at the Miniature Train is a chance for kids to hunt for Easter eggs at a beloved Vancouver landmark. But unlike VanDusen’s hunt, this one won’t sell out and you don’t need advance tickets—just show up!

Easter 2011 at VanDusen Botanical Garden: The Great A-Mazing Egg Hunt

It may seem early to be posting about an Easter egg hunt—Easter 2011 isn’t until April 24—but the super-adorable Great A-Mazing Egg Hunt at the gorgeous VanDusen Botanical Garden proved so popular last year that it sold out long before the event itself.

What separates VanDusen’s Great A-Mazing Egg Hunt from any other Easter egg hunt is the venue: this egg hunt takes place inside the Garden’s gorgeous Elizabethan hedge maze. The hedge maze, made up of 3,000 pyramidal cedars, is one of the star attractions at VanDusen; it’s much trickier than it looks (I have trouble finding the centre!) and is terrific fun for egg hunters age 2 – 10 years old.

Vancouver Community Easter Egg Hunts

If you’re looking for a place to take the tykes Easter egg hunting this coming Easter weekend (April 1 – 4), look no further than one of Vancouver’s neighbourhood community centres.

Community centres around the city are celebrating Easter with Easter EGGstravaganzas:

April 1 – Kerrisdale Community Centre – Easter Egg Decorating
April 1 – West End Community Centre – Easter EGGstravaganza & Easter Egg Hunt
April 3 – Renfrew Park Community Centre – Easter EGGstravaganza & Easter Egg Hunt

Most events are just $5, but you must pre-register to ensure a place for your child.

Easter Egg Hunts at VanDusen Botanical Garden & Vancouver Maritime Museum

Easter is just a few weeks away and two of Vancouver’s favourite landmarks—the gorgeous VanDusen Botanical Garden and the kid-friendly Vancouver Maritime Museum—are celebrating the holiday with Easter egg and treasure hunts.

VanDusen’s Great A-Mazing Egg Hunt is set in its Elizabethan Hedge Maze and is co-hosted with Purdy’s Chocolates (who’ll be providing the chocolate eggs, of course). Festivities run from 10am – 12pm on Saturday, April 3, and include decorating an “egg bag” and other seasonal crafts, plus visits with VanDusen’s Mr. Bunny and the Purdy’s Chocolates ambassador, Philbert the Hedgehog.
