The Etsy Market will be returning to Vancouver for its third year this weekend to provide you with a great opportunity to browse arts, crafts, and food by local artisans. If you’re REALLY organized, perhaps this could be a first kick-off at Holiday gift shopping… Or, you could just be out to buy a nice, new little present for yourself.

This year’s market will be held in a new location at the North Vancouver Pipe Shop building near Lonsdale to provide more space for browsing. It will also be held over two days, so you’ll be able to have lots of time to check it out.

Etsy itself is sort of an online version of a giant craft fair. The market they put together is uniquely and carefully curated, and getting to see the goods in real life rather than online is a great opportunity.

When it comes to online shopping for homemade, vintage and offbeat goodies Etsy has the internet market cornered.

Part virtual craft fair, part uber-searchable catalogue, Etsy the internet home to artists, crafters, collectors and artisans around the globe, including Canada.

Founded in 2005 and calls Brooklyn, NY home. Etsy has over 1 million active shops, 26 million items listed and had $1.35 billion in sales in 2013. If you search for ‘Made in Canada’, Etsy says there are 17,072 items labelled such. Small batch crafts, it seems, are a big deal.

On September 27, Etsy vendors from the Vancouver area will go offline at the Etsy: Made in Canada pop-up. The event takes place at Robson Square from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. The pop-up marketplace is part of a cross-Canada celebration of the Canuck Etsy community. Similar markets are popping up in 23 cities from Quebec to B.C. More than 65 vendors are selling everything from honey to jewellery to kids clothes  at the Robson Square ice skating rink September 27.   Continue reading:
