Like crimson coloured leaves, pumpkin spice lattes and rainy days, the quest to find the perfect pumpkin is a treasured fall ritual. Dipping temperatures and shorter days can only mean one thing. Halloween is just around the corner. Consequently, it is time for the annual trek to the local pumpkin patch. This year I decided to don my gumboots and head to Southlands Heritage Farm.

Your Personal Farmers Market: The VanValley Box Program

Patterns and Colours

One of the best things about living in Vancouver is the access to fresh, local produce during the summer months.  Each week, there are nearly a dozen farmers’ markets in the city, offering fruits and veggies from around the Fraser Valley.  But not everyone has the time to get out there and browse all those strawberries, tomatoes and root vegetables.

So along comes a neat new solution from a group of local farmers called VanValley Food Connection.  Essentially, they bring the farmers market to you.   Each week during the summer, members get a specially prepared box of produce from area farms.  Here’s how it works:
