Vancouver Meat Fest Announced

Carnivores, mark your calendars.

A daylong fest celebrating the joys of meat (and beer) is coming to downtown Vancouver. Brewery and the Beast, the city’s first Festival of Meat, is slated for this Father’s Day, June 16. Tickets go on sale now.

Held at Concord Pacific Place on the False Creek waterfront, Brewery and the Beast is no ordinary barbecue. Some 30 restaurants from around the city will be grilling, skewering and carving. In fact, the list reads like a who’s who of Vancouver meat purveyors, including upscale steakhouse Black+Blue, charcuterie experts Campagnolo, Southern barbecuists Peckinpah, fine dining icons Hawksworth and West and many more.

Father’s Day is Sunday, June 17, and there are lots of things to do in Vancouver to celebrate Dad, from taking him out for brunch or beers (or brunch with beers, if that’s how Dad rolls) to celebrating with the Whitecaps on Grouse Mountain or with the whole community at Vancouver’s Car-Free Festivals!

‘I ♥ East Van’ Pins on Sale at Broadway/Commercial Safeway until June 20

While doing my grocery shopping at the Broadway/Commercial Safeway this weekend, I spotted these ‘I ♥ East Van’ pins in the check-out line and had to grab one. (Actually, I plan to go back for a few more….) The pins are for charity: proceeds from the $2 pins go to support Prostate Cancer Canada and the Safeway Father’s Day Walk/Run for Prostate Cancer on June 17 (Father’s Day).
