Filming in Vancouver: Woke, Another Life, The Mighty Ducks, and Pieces of Her

Katee Sackhoff stars in the sci-fi drama Another Life.

Now that TV and film productions in Vancouver have all settled back into their work groove after returning from holiday hiatuses, it’s time to look at what’s new and upcoming in the local screen scene.

This week, there’s a live-action and animation hybrid TV series, based upon a cartoonist’s life, that starts shooting today.

In a few weeks, there’s also a sci-fi drama, about a space mission launched to track down the origin of a strange alien object that came to Earth, that’ll be coming back for a second season.

Next month, there’ll be two new TV series that’ll be starting up—and they couldn’t be more different if they tried.

One is based upon a ‘90s sports comedy movie while the other is a thriller based upon a novel about a daughter whose life is radically changed after witnessing how her mother responds to an act of violence.

So with all of this on our plate, let’s haul out our crystal ball and take a look into the near-future to see what’s coming our way.

The last batch of TV series are going on holiday hiatuses. And many of them—rather fittingly—are superpowered and sci-fi-boosted so presumably they used their super endurance to continue on late into the season.

A feature film will be taking a breather for the wintry holidays.

Santa Claus will also allegedly take a break from filming so that he can do his seasonal duty.

Elsewhere in B.C., a Canadian film wrapped up filming in the Okanagan.
