Got Snow? Cypress Opens Friday!

Dust off those boards, tweak those bindings and dig out your long undies because it is snowing in the mountains! Like most winter enthusiasts, this is the time of year I longingly watch our magnificent Lions for that first dusting of white. With bated breath, I diligently monitor temperature and precipitation predictions. Anticipation builds! While commuters curse, I gleefully thank Mother Nature for the early season storms and unexpected blast of winter. I visualize fresh tracks and apres ski! Well, Vancouverites, the wait is over. It is official; Cypress Mountain kicks off the season this Friday, November 10th.

After a wave of snow blanketed Vancouver over the holiday season and into the New Year, the Winter wonderland has melted away and the warmer weather has begun to approach. But for those snow seekers who didn’t get a taste of the frosty fun, there’s no need to fret, because the snow is still falling at the top of Mount Seymour – a local mountain located only 40 minutes from downtown Vancouver. Here are a few ways you can slide down the slopes and play in the snow before Winter slips away.

Monday nights are becoming the best night of the week starting January 23, 2017 when ladies are invited to Mount Seymour to shred for the cause to support a local, community-based charity called The Bloom Group.

Every Monday night until March 27, 2017, you can ski or snowboard at Mt Seymour for as low as $10 (feel free to donate more) with $5 of every lift ticket going to The Bloom Group.

Monday night ladies nights are a great way to give to a good cause and provide more opportunity for women to spend some extra time on the slopes. (Men are invited as well, evening lift tickets cost just $33).

The 2016 ski season is shaping up to be one to remember in Vancouver, with great snowfall on the local mountains. Now, there’s a way to enjoy all the snow on the cheap, and support a great cause.

Every Monday night from Jan. 25-March 28, ladies can ski for a donation of just $10 at Mount Seymour in North Vancouver as part of the Shred for a Cause event. The yearly tradition, now in its ninth year, has raised more than $150,000 for charity … and contributed to countless memorable nights on the slopes.

This year, Mount Seymour has upped the price of admission for ladies ever so slightly, from a minimum donation of $5 to $10, half of which goes to charity. Still, that’s an absolute steal considering that guys have to pay the full evening lift ticket price of $31. Just pay at guest services (no special vouchers needed this year) and enjoy unlimited night skiing from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Continue reading:
