I’ll be spending this rainy day checking out one of Vancouver’s many museums or galleries, as well as making plans for when the sunny weather returns. Some of my favourite memories of summer last year involve swimming in outdoor pools in the city. From family-friendly public pools to more exclusive hotel ones, Vancouver has tons of different pool options for doing laps, lounging, and splashing around. This summer, I intend to visit them all. Vancouver Outdoor Public Pools: soak up the last few weeks of poolside fun

August is the best month in Vancouver. The sun shines, people take advantage of all our city has to offer. From water sports to Playland to farmer’s markets, Vancouverites and our guests flood our outdoor spaces seeking vitamin D and summery good times.

Unfortunately, August also spells the last full month that city-run public pools are open. You have between two weeks and a month to pack your pool bag to do some laps or splash it up with your kids or suntan-dip-repeat before Vancouver’s five outdoor public pools close next month.

Swim! Outdoor Pools Open Today in Vancouver

It’s that time of year again –  time to officially trade those toques and jackets for beach towels and flip-flops.

Several of Vancouver’s outdoor pools open today, just in time to take advantage of the May Long Weekend.  The Kitsilano, Second Beach, New Brighton and Hillcrest outdoor pools all open for business May 19.
