If you’ve been following some of my other posts about queer parties in Vancouver, like Denim Vest and Queers and Beers, the organizers of Up Yours 2016, a queer New Year’s Eve party, will sound familiar. Up Yours 2016 is a one-time collaboration between Queers and Beers, Denim Vest, and Man Up, three rad groups doing late night queer party organizing with tons of experience. If you’ve been to events held by any of these three collectives, you know that their coming together for this NYE event is going to be epic.

Pride season is upon us, and what is now a full-city of rainbow-coloured events and celebrations, began as a much smaller event over four decades ago. Many agree it all began in 1973, with a picnic and art exhibit in Ceperley Park, near second beach in Stanley Park, as a part of the first national celebrations of Pride Week taking place across Canada in major centres at the time.

Pre-Work Dance Party Coming to Vancouver – Wake n Shake, Jan 29

Having trouble getting out of bed during these dark January mornings? This may be the event for you.

Start your day by shaking your thing with 200 other Vancouverites at a unique pre-work dance party near downtown’s Olympic Village neighbourhood. Groove to a live DJ, stretch with trained yoga instructors and even get a free mini-massage  … before you ever step foot in the office.

It’s all part of Wake n Shake, Jan. 29 at the Beaumont Studios, a collective of artists studios just blocks from the Olympic Village SkyTrain Station. This is the second instalment of the event, which debuted over the summer and attracted more than 100 participants.   Continue reading:
