The City of Vancouver has today announced the successful applicants for street food cart positions to be located around town this year.

Street Food: Pulled Pork Sandwiches from Re-Up BBQ

You may have seen Remy’s post recently regarding the new street food options available in Vancouver. I am making it my mission to make my way through them all, one tasty treat at a time. Well, actually, eating for me is not really a mission…more of a hobby or favourite past time really!

Earlier this summer, the City announced that they would be allowing new street food vendors to start setting up shop (or carts for that matter) on the streets of Vancouver, making way for something a little more exciting than your traditional hot dog (Japadog, you are excused from this statement).

Enter, Re-Up BBQ. Re-Up is dishing out pulled pork sandwiches ($6) drenched with barbecue sauce and topped with their crispy coleslaw, all on an incredibly fresh Portuguese roll.  Re-Up make all of their ingredients from scratch, including smoking their own meat. Their bbq sauce is vegan, though I can’t picture many vegans standing in line for their daily dose of pulled pork. But it’s the thought that counts!

New Street Food Options: Pulled Pork at Re-Up

Thanks to a loosening of municipal restrictions, Vancouver’s street food scene is suddenly blossoming.  Among the new players on the scene is Re-Up BBQ, a food cart serving pulled pork sandwiches that’s stationed in front of the Vancouver Art Gallery.  Re-Up opened earlier this month and was greeted with rave reviews by diners and Vancouver Sun food critic Shelley Fralic.  I decided to check it out on a sunny afternoon earlier this week.
