Summer concert season is kicking into high gear. Some of the world’s most popular recording artists are coming to town on their various world tours. Most of these popular musical acts are scheduled to perform for sold-out audiences at Rogers ArenaBC Place, or one of Vancouver’s many other live venues.

Paul McCartney, Norah Jones and four other concerts to see in July

The big concerts this month are Paul McCartney and Queen + Adam Lambert. But there are a bunch of shows bubbling under, from the jazz-pop stylings of Norah Jones to a double-bill of new-wave pioneers the Psychedelic Furs and James. Just to keep things interesting, we’ve thrown in a couple of younger, up-and-coming postpunk bands we think are worthwhile (and affordable).

Here come the JUNOS! What to expect on (and before) March 25.

Burnaby-raised singer Michael Bublé hosts this year’s JUNO Awards March 25. For the first time since 2009, the Canadian music industry awards show is being held in Vancouver.

For the first time since 2009, the JUNO Awards are coming to Vancouver.

Presented by the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS), the annual celebration of the Canadian music industry takes place March 25 at Rogers Arena (800 Griffiths Way). A number of JUNO-related events are also planned as part of JUNO Week (March 19-25).

But the main event is the March 25 broadcast/live presentation. Host Michael Bublé and guest presenters will hand out a number of awards from 42 categories. Here’s a look at some of this year’s nominees and performers.
