Fred Armisen live in Vancouver (sort of) for day-long Portlandia fest

The Rio Theatre has just announced that Fred Armisen is coming to Vancouver – via Skype. The actor/comedian will take part in a live q-and-a during Portlandiapalooza, a daylong festival featuring screenings of seasons 1-3 of the hit series Portlandia at the Rio.

Michael Jackson (no, not the singer) is largely credited with being the first true craft beer aficionado. Now, a new documentary gives us a portrait of the English journalist and his travels.

On Sept. 4, The Rio Theatre and Camra Vancouver present Beer Hunter, about the man who helped pave the way for today’s craft beer culture. And, as is fitting, the evening will also feature an array of craft beer from local breweries.

Crazy8s Gala and After-Party this Saturday, Feb 23

Take six local filmmakers, give them eight days to make a short film, and you get Crazy8s, a Vancouver film-making competition now in its 14th year.

Each year, the entries for the latest Crazy8s are screened at a gala. This year, there are some dynamite-looking entries that should appeal to film buffs on the watch for new talent and, possibly, the next Seth Rogen.
