The Etsy Market will be returning to Vancouver for its third year this weekend to provide you with a great opportunity to browse arts, crafts, and food by local artisans. If you’re REALLY organized, perhaps this could be a first kick-off at Holiday gift shopping… Or, you could just be out to buy a nice, new little present for yourself.

This year’s market will be held in a new location at the North Vancouver Pipe Shop building near Lonsdale to provide more space for browsing. It will also be held over two days, so you’ll be able to have lots of time to check it out.

Etsy itself is sort of an online version of a giant craft fair. The market they put together is uniquely and carefully curated, and getting to see the goods in real life rather than online is a great opportunity.

There’s something about spring’s approach that signals craft fairs. Early blooms remind me of the intricate, beautiful and ornamental wares by local folk artists. Plus, spring means weddings galore and all the gifts that weddings (and their little sister: bridal showers) require.

With that in mind, here are six Vancouver craft fairs coming our way in spring 2013. Whether you’re browsing the crafts on offer or looking to set up your own booth, here are the dates you need to know. Continue reading:

Fall Fashion 101: Meet the New Stores on Robson Street

September means fall fashion. Vogue debuts its door stop fall fashion guide. Vancouver celebrates its first Fashion’s Night Out, Sept. 6, when retailers offer deep discounts for one glamourous night. Main St. hosts the autumn local designer show case Spend on Trend, Sept. 14-16. But more on those events later.

In this post, I’ll cover the latest store openings in Vancouver’s main shopping corridor: Robson Street. If you’re shopping in Vancouver, Robson Street is the favourite retail and strolling thoroughfare. It’s the second-most-expensive retail street in Canada after Toronto’s Bloor Street. Although some speculated that Vancouver’s retail corridor would shift, Robson Street has rallied with some exciting updates.

Even if you don’t need a first day of school outfit, there’s an irresistible urge to banish cut-offs and browse the richly-hued, new season window displays.

Here’s where to look. Continue reading:
