Top 5 Restaurants on South Granville – Where to Eat in South Granville’s Shopping District

Preparing dinners at West Restaurant

Now that my family has expanded to include our son (born in March), my partner and I are making that typical Vancouver move out of our awesomely-located, westside two-bedroom into a house of our own in East Van. In our case, the beloved neighbourhood we’re leaving is South Granville, the trendy, bustling shopping district that stretches from Granville Street Bridge to 16th Avenue, just south of downtown Vancouver.

So, in honour of my neighbourhood—which I will sorely miss and which will always be one of my very favourite spots in Vancouver—I thought I’d do a series of posts on all things South Granville, starting with the absolutely fabulous food.

South Granville is packed with high-quality restaurants, including two of the city’s most acclaimed eateries—West Restaurant and Vij’s—making it a must-visit for foodies.

Vancouver Shopping – 8 Places to Shop for Fashion in Vancouver

Shopping in Yaletown

When I first moved to Vancouver, I fell instantly in love with the city’s independent fashion boutiques.

Don’t get me wrong—if I had the money, I would totally Carrie Bradshaw-out on designer-label goods, but I would always make room in my wardrobe for locally-designed pieces. Inventive, gorgeous, unique fashion is a mark of both the truly stylish person and the truly stylish city, and unlike many places that do have the big names (in department stores, malls, etc.), Vancouver is distinguished by its own, thriving fashion scene.

The following is a list of my favourite fashion spots in Vancouver. I’ve included the “big name” spots along with the local boutique areas because the local boutiques can be more expensive (though not always) and they don’t carry (sadly) as wide a range of clothing sizes.

Guest post by local blogger Joyce Lam (http://vanfoodies.wordpress.com)

When it comes to Mother’s Day celebration, it often ends up being the same old same old – flower bouquet, perfume, jewelery, card, family dinner and so on. So how did I spice it up this year? Well, it’s all based around the phrase “one and only”.

Explore South Granville – Shopping & Eating on Vancouver’s Gallery Row

When I used drive up to Vancouver as a kid with my family, I remember admiring the shops and restaurants that lead up to the Granville Street Bridge on 99 North. Back then, I didn’t know that that part of Granville Street—from 16th Avenue to the Bridge—was called South Granville, and I didn’t know that, when I moved to the city as an adult, I would call South Granville home.

The South Granville shopping district is the heart of my neighbourhood. For visitors, it’s easy to spend the day here—it’s walking distance from Granville Island and just minutes from Downtown, so you can combine a trip with other outings. It’s a fabulous place to stroll, explore and—most importantly–eat.
