Yelp Food Cart Fest Every Sunday at the Waldorf Hotel

Here’s more evidence that East Van’s Waldorf Hotel is becoming one of the hottest spots east of downtown: Following the success of the first-ever Waldorf Hotel’s Canada Day Block Party / Food Cart Festival this past July 1, the hotel is teaming up with Yelp and Street Food Vancouver for the Yelp Food Cart Fest, a food cart festival that will run every Sunday from July 29 – September 2, 2012!

The Yelp Food Cart Fest will be more than just the (second) largest gathering of food trucks in Vancouver ever (the first being the inaugural Waldorf Hotel’s Canada Day Block Party): the Fest will include a series of community markets, live music performances, family entertainment, and a 19+ beer garden at the hotel’s “outdoor tiki beach area.”

Summer Picnics at VanDusen Botanical Garden from Truffles Cafe

Back in April, when Truffles Cafe at VanDusen Botanical Garden debuted their Afternoon Tea, the Cafe mentioned the possibility of offering outdoor picnic baskets for picnics at the Garden this summer. That idea is now a reality: Picnics for two have started at VanDusen, officially making one of Vancouver’s most beautiful places even more adorable. (Seriously, what could be more picturesque than enjoying an old-fashioned picnic at VanDusen’s Monet-esque Meadow Garden or surrounded by flowers on the Azalea Path?)

Metro Vancouver’s multiculturalism is on display at the annual, free Surrey Fusion Festival this weekend, July 21 – 22, 2012.

A huge festival that attracts 60,000+ people every summer, the Surrey Fusion Festival is part music festival—the 2012 line-up includes performances by Los Lobos, Good for Grapes, two-time JUNO award nominee Jeremy Fisher and multiple world music fusion groups like Ranj Singh and The Discriminators and Delhi 2 Dublin—and part multicultural fest, featuring 38 “cultural pavilions” that let you experience food and culture from around the world.

Free Musical Nooners at CBC: Free Music Concerts Every Weekday Through August 24

If you work near Hamilton Street and Robson in downtown Vancouver, you’ve probably already heard the sounds: live music concerts happening right outside the CBC Vancouver studios every weekday (Monday – Friday) from noon – 1pm.

Called Musical Nooners, this free, outdoor concert series from CBC Music and McDonald’s is the perfect work-day pick-up: grab your friends and your street food, and enjoy live music from a range of entertainers, including artists from the Vancouver Folk Music Festival and the Mission Folk Music Festival.

Theatre Under the Stars 2012 at Stanley Park: The Music Man & TITANIC

Stanley Park’s Theatre Under the Stars (TUTS) is back for Summer 2012 with two new musical productions, The Music Man and TITANIC, starting July 8.

One of Vancouver’s largest musical theatre companies, TUTS performs two musicals every summer at Stanley Park’s outdoor Malkin Bowl, where you can sit in traditional seating or bring your picnic blanket and watch from the grassy lawns. It literally is “theatre under the stars.”
