This weekend begins with the recognition and remembrance of those who have served in preserving peace, many of whom lost their lives and still have an impact on people alive today. On Saturday, it is the day commemorating Louis Riel, the late 1800s Métis political leader who also sought to preserve rights and culture in Canada. Watch the skies this weekend – the Perseids meteor shower is at it’s peak this Thursday and Friday! Aside from the natural show there is much to do, such as movie marathoning at the Queer Film Festival, getting your run and your dance on at SeaWheeze, taking in some outdoor theatre,  and speeding down a giant slip-n-slide. This weekend is supposed to be much more summery weather-wise than this week, so get out there and soak it up.
