ACTC - Billy Elliot-3

“I’m just there. Flyin’ like a bird. Like electricity. Yeah, like electricity.” – Billy Elliott

Stanley Industrial Alliance Stage is where you’ll cheer on everyone’s favourite underdog, running from May 12 – July 10.

Based on the acclaimed film, and with a soundtrack by Elton John, Billy Elliot is an inspiring story of an 11-year old boy’s courage, ambition, and overcoming adversity. Set in 1984 in County Durham, England where coal miners are set to go on strike, young Billy (Nolan Fahey) meets ballet teacher Mrs. Wilkinson (Caitriona Murphy) after his boxing class – and his path is forever changed.

Vancouver is a unique city when it comes to outdoor activities for kids. Families can frolic along sandy beaches, dine in bustling downtown cafes, and ski down powdered mountain slopes – all in the same day!

Doug. Pseudotsuga menziesii. The Douglas Fir. My favourite tree.

My love affair with Doug began in the 1980’s while hiking the West Coast Trail on Vancouver Island. I was in awe of the spectacular old growth forest and the majestic giant trees that towered over me. Sitka Spruce, Western Red Cedars and Douglas Fir captured my imagination and stirred my soul. Fortunately, you don’t need to travel all the way to the West Coast Trail to experience a Coastal Rain Forest. In fact, Pacific Spirit Regional Park, a lush urban forest, is right outside our back door. Close and convenient, this regional park features 763 hectares of forest and foreshore and is one of my favourite places to visit Doug.

The past, the present and the future come together while cycling the Dyke trails in Richmond. This popular cycling route is an easy ride and a favourite for families, history buffs and nature lovers! Flat, scenic and lots of places to stop and explore along the way!

The Past

I thoroughly enjoy the numerous historic points of interest found along this route. Visits to Finn Slough, London Heritage Farm, Steveston Village and the Gulf of Georgia Cannery bring the past to life.

Slow Biking – Kits Beach to Lighthouse Park

Cycling English Bay Vancouver

Have you heard about the Slow Bicycle Movement?  I would argue it is more of a philosophy than a movement, a celebration of cycling so to speak.  Slow biking is about the journey and not the destination.  An emphasis on enjoying the ride.  The unofficial rules of the Slow Bicycle Movement are simple:
