This weekend you can tickle the exhibitionist inside of you either with a lack of clothing at the Naked Bike Ride, or with a fancy hat (and clothing for the rest of your body as well) at the Deighton Cup. It’s also Shark Week at the Aquarium, the beginning of the Drum is Calling Festival, the African Descent Festival, and Pride Sports day is on Saturday!

The name of this weekend is diversity! The Indian Summer Fest brings themes of war and peace from the East, there’s a Greek festival, a Latin American festival, Theatre Under The Stars begins, the MOA has an Indigenous art exhibit with insight from contemporary Indigenous artists and community members, and there’s a few street parties on both sides of town – the Khatsahlano fest in Kitsilano, and Car Free Day on Commercial Drive.

On this, the final weekend of spring, the Queers Arts Festival opens with a celebration of two-spirited peoples, and it’s Car Free Day on Main Street and in the West End.Β  Also opening this weekend – the Vancouver Art Gallery and Vandusen Garden are serendipitously doing a bit of a concept swap; head to the Art Gallery on Friday for floral installations and tranquil garden scenes, or head to Garden for a Zimbabwean sculpture exhibit.

Things to Do this Weekend in Vancouver: May 25, 2017

This weekend arts are all around us with artist studios opening up to the public in Mount Pleasant, Point Grey and on Granville Island. There’s an international art fair at the Convention Centre, a theatre festival at The Cultch, and outdoor dancing at Robson Square and the Davie Village. Vancouver Craft Beer Week has also begun, with tastings popping up in breweries and restaurants all over. (For a relaxing break from festivities, this weekend is also ideal the head to VanDusen Botanical Garden – the longer winter means that the spring blooms are all lighting up the landscape a little later this year, as in, right now!)
