This weekend’s all about feelin’ the love – and not just with your main squeeze! Thanks to the Family Day long-weekend, you’ve got an extra day to get out there for some quality time with the special people in your life. Are your weekend plans in a bit of a rut? Spice things up with some of these events.
Welcome to the first weekend of 2020! This weekend is Perihelion, which is the closest Earth will be to the sun all year, and you can celebrate at the Space Centre on Saturday. There’s also night skiing, a Cindy Sherman exhibit, improv comedy, an Italian film festival and plenty of theatre. If you didn’t get a chance yet to indulge in one of Vancouver’s many holiday lights displays, this is the final weekend for several of them.
Happy Thanksgiving long weekend! Just like you’ll be heaping more hearty food onto your already full dinner plate this weekend, more Halloween has been added to the city, such as the Stanley Park Ghost Train, a haunted trolley tour, mystery nights, harvest festivals, and a family-friendly costume expo and parade. After all, in the wise words of Mae West, “too much of a good thing can be wonderful”.

Things to Do in Vancouver on Thanksgiving Long Weekend
Happy October! The haunted houses have begun, Cirque du Soleil is in town, there’s a wizard-themed cocktail night and a puppet making workshop. VIFF is also in full swing including a discussion with Michael Moore and there’s a multi-cultural cabaret festival.
Get your wine tasting on with a bit of cosplay; the Convention Centre is hosting both Fan Expo and the International Wine Festival this weekend. There’s also ballet, Icelandic marionettes, two plays that focus on religious experiences, soccer, a rap group from Taiwan and a local rock and metal cover band animal charity fundraiser.

Colourful interactive art installations and performance will be alight this weekend around downtown, cirque dinner theatre begins at Queen Elizabeth Park, and there’s plenty of art shows, dance performance, and concerts to keep you entertained in Vancouver.
