Vancouver New-B: A Newcomer’s Observations Vol 01

http://www.wildbc.com/Best-of-Vancouver-Evening-Tour.html

Hello Vancouver! My name is Britanny, and I’m a Vancouver newbie. I’m from Canmore, Alberta, I went to university in Calgary, after that I moved to Montreal, and now I’ve landed here in Vancouver. Though I’m a fresh Vancouverite, I’ve already come to adore this city and I’m proud that I now get to call it home.

As you can imagine, my senses have been overwhelmed by the stunning scenery, soothing smell and sound of the ocean, and the general hustle and bustle of people who are far more aware of their whereabouts than I am. From the moment I arrived here I’ve been noticing cool, quirky, interesting, strange, and great traits that are unique to this city and all play together to make it truly wonderful. Photo Tour: A Peek Inside The Disney Wonder Cruise Ship

Disney Wonder

From the top of its mouse-ears-adorned funnel to its red-dipped ship base, the Disney Wonder cruise ship drips with Disney magic inside and out, while maintaining its reputation as a high-class luxury vessel.

First launched in Venice, Italy in 1999 (where the ship was built), the second oldest ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet is known for its perfect balance of classic sleek and modern chic interior, boasting Italian-inspired decor that reflects the history of the venetian vessel in a classy yet stylish way.

After cruising regularly between Port Canaveral, Florida and The Bahamas for several years, the classic ship added Vancouver to its roster of departure cities in 2011, and became the only Disney cruise ship to call Vancouver home. The ship can be seen tucked up against Canada Place during the Spring and Summer months, offering regular sailings between Vancouver and Alaska from its downtown port.

For those of you who have only dreamed of boarding the dashing Disney vessel, here’s a peek inside the 11-deck ship.

Volker Gerling Connects With Portraits in Motion

Stories to travel are like butter to bread—nourishing and complementary. My most cherished keepsakes from the road are not the postcards or evidential self-portraits in front of famous monuments, but the unique connections that resonate with me long after my return home. It’s these simple, fleeting moments that Berlin-based artist Voker Gerling addressed last night during the Emily Carr Speaker Series at Emily Carr University of Art + Design.
