Lights at Lafarge the Free, Outdoor Winter Light Display is Back for another Dazzling Season

If you’ve already checked out Canyon Lights at the Capilano Suspension Bridge and you’ve got a craving for more fabulous light displays, Lafarge Lake in nearby Coquitlam is not going to disappoint. With these long, dark evenings of winter we need all the help we can get to make the nighttime shine!

Billed as Metro Vancouver’s largest, free outdoor light display, Lights at Lafarge is made up of hundreds of thousands of twinkling lights, will wrap itself entirely around the lake, taking you on a 1.2-kilometre loop. The lights are set up outside, so make sure to dress for the weather!

2018 Chinese New Year Parade Celebrates the Year of the Dog

The annual cultural extravaganza that is the Chinese New Year Parade will be returning for its 45th year on Sunday, February 17, 2018. This signature event of Vancouver’s Chinatown will feature lion dances, cultural dance troupes, marching bands, martial arts performances and much more.

The parade is a major part of the Lunar New Year Festival, a regional event celebrating Spring, Chinese New Year and traditional Asian New Year celebrations taking place in Vancouver and Richmond.

Dive into 2018 at the Annual Vancouver Polar Bear Plunge

Now that Christmas has come and gone, it’s time to focus on New Year’s! Hopefully you’ve already got your party plans for the evening, but what are you going to be doing the morning after? For many locals and visitors alike, New Year’s Day is the time to cross an item off the ultimate bucket list with the annual Vancouver Polar Bear Swim.

The ultimate hangover cure, the Vancouver Polar Bear Swim is one of the largest and oldest Polar Bear Clubs in the world. If you weren’t already aware, a Polar Bear Swim includes a quick, invigorating jump into the ocean. A great way to start the new year!
