Last year, thousands gathered at Sunset Beach for the first annual Symphony at Sunset, a free, open-air concert taking place in Downtown Vancouver.
For 2019, the Symphony is back for another year of beautiful music by the beach. Last year, more than 14,000 people attended the free concert at Sunset Beach. This year, it is expected that even more people will attend, so organizers are working to ensure that the event will remain free and accessible for music-lovers of all ages.

This weekend, several neighbourhoods in Vancouver will be going car-free to host some sensational community events.
Can you imagine Main Street in East Vancouver free of cars? How about Denman Street in the West End? Seems impossible, right? Not during the Car Free Vancouver festivals, which kick off this weekend in three neighbourhoods across the city. The festival will transform major streets into a family-friendly and pedestrian-only space with entertainment, food, live performances, and a whole lot more.
The festivals will be taking place along Main Street, Denman Street, and in the Kitsilano neighbourhood. There will also be a celebration on Commercial Drive, but in July. Here’s what’s going down for car free day(s) in Vancouver:

It’s Easter weekend, and between hunting for eggs and filling yourself with pastel-encrusted chocolates, you can check out reconstructed realities from India-based artists, find out what a mermaid purse is at the Aquarium or browse locally made handcrafted items at Make It.
This weekend you can see Nosferatu backed by a live choir, check out some fancy cars at the auto show, cheer on some national soccer or make waves at a Canucks game. There’s also performance that works with projections on nudity, a tale re-told with a Punjabi-Sikh family in the Okanagan Valley, and the marketing extravaganza you’ve no-doubt seen information for everywhere, Shen Yun is finally happening.
Along with Lunar New Year festivities (and a parade!) this weekend, sneakers meet stilettos at the Convention Centre where both Sneakercon and the Taboo Show will be set up. Also, throughout the city, there’s contemporary South African dance, a play poking fun at the yoga industry, a Jewish literary festival and live flamenco.
