Five Events We’re Most Excited for at the 2018 Vancouver International Wine Festival

Like a fine wine, Vancouver International Wine Festival continues to improve with age. For this year’s 40th anniversary (February 24 to March 4), more than 170 wineries from 16 countries around the world are convening in Vancouver to host eight days of wine-centred dinners, seminars, brunches and lunches, and tasting galas. Events are selling out like mad, but there are still tickets available for our five must-do festival experiences – so pour a glass of your favourite vino, find an event you like, and get ready to immerse yourself in all things wine.

Wine lovers in Vancouver have good reason to raise a glass this week.

The Vancouver International Wine Festival, one of the biggest events of its kind in North America, returns to the city Feb. 20-March 1.  The eight-day blowout is much, much more than a simple wine tasting. More than 50 wine-fueled events are scheduled at venues across the city, from wine-paired dinners, lunches and brunches at top hotels and restaurants to special wine seminars and a series of giant tasting for 25,000 oenophiles.

This year, more than 150 wineries from 14 countries will be pouring up their finest reserves. The theme country for the 2016 festival is Italy, meaning fans of Italian wines are in for a special treat. A total of 60 Italian wineries representing nine different regions – from Tuscany to Piedmont – are on hand.  There will also be a range of brand new wineries at the festival, including some viticultural pioneers from Kamloops and New Mexico.  Continue reading:

1800 wines, 43 events, 10 days: All about the 2015 Vancouver International Wine Fest

Drinkers, raise your glasses. The 2015 Vancouver International Wine Fest rolls into town Feb. 20-March 1. Some 25,000 wine lovers are expected to attend the 10-day festival, which features 43 separate happenings at venues around the city.

Wine-themed events range from special seminars to wine-paired lunches and dinners (and even brunches) and, of course, plenty of tastings. In total, 170 wineries from 14 countries will be in attendance, pouring more than 1,800 separate wines.

The heart of the festival is the giant International Festival Tasting Room event held over three nights (and one afternoon) inside the Vancouver Convention Centre, Thursday, Feb. 26, to Saturday, Feb. 28 (tickets starting at $68). Continue reading:

Drink Up! Giant Wine Fest Coming to Vancouver, Feb 24-March 2

For wine drinkers, it’s the event of the season.

The Vancouver International Wine Festival rolls into town Feb. 24-March 2, bringing 178 wineries from 14 countries.  Over the course of the weeklong festival, 54 separate events are held at venues around the city.  And, in case you’re curious, a total of 1,750 different wines will be poured.

The theme country for this year’s festival is France, which means that an enormous variety of French wines will be flowing. In total, 52 French wineries are represented, from regions as diverse as Alsace, Bordeaux, Rhone and Champagne.

On the subject of Champagne, the “global focus” for the festival this time around is bubbly.  Sparkling wine fans will find plenty of Champagne, as well as Cavas, Proseccos and other sparklers from around the world.

So how do you get in on the fun?
