Last chance to get tickets to these Vancouver International Wine Fest Winery Dinners!

The Vancouver International Wine Festival (Feb 21-March 1) approacheth. With seminars, special events, minglers, and sit-down dinners, as well as an international tasting room, the annual event is one of the city’s most anticipated, at least by oenophiles.

The dinners are an especially hot ticket. Along with a tasty way to learn more about wine, they offer a chance to network with professionals in the food and wine industry and enjoy a special dinner prepared by some of the city’s best chefs. Each dinner focuses on a different participating winery in the festival, and builds their menu around the wines paired during the dinner.

While many of the dinners are sold out, some still have spots available. Note: tickets to these events are only available until 11:59 p.m. tonight, Feb. 13.

Like a fine wine, Vancouver International Wine Festival continues to improve with age. For this year’s 40th anniversary (February 24 to March 4), more than 170 wineries from 16 countries around the world are convening in Vancouver to host eight days of wine-centred dinners, seminars, brunches and lunches, and tasting galas. Events are selling out like mad, but there are still tickets available for our five must-do festival experiences – so pour a glass of your favourite vino, find an event you like, and get ready to immerse yourself in all things wine.

Thirsty? Try 1450 of the world’s top wines this week at the Vancouver International Wine Fest

Wine lovers in Vancouver have good reason to raise a glass this week.

The Vancouver International Wine Festival, one of the biggest events of its kind in North America, returns to the city Feb. 20-March 1.  The eight-day blowout is much, much more than a simple wine tasting. More than 50 wine-fueled events are scheduled at venues across the city, from wine-paired dinners, lunches and brunches at top hotels and restaurants to special wine seminars and a series of giant tasting for 25,000 oenophiles.

This year, more than 150 wineries from 14 countries will be pouring up their finest reserves. The theme country for the 2016 festival is Italy, meaning fans of Italian wines are in for a special treat. A total of 60 Italian wineries representing nine different regions – from Tuscany to Piedmont – are on hand.  There will also be a range of brand new wineries at the festival, including some viticultural pioneers from Kamloops and New Mexico.  Continue reading:
