There’s something otherworldly about sunflowers, the tall and beautiful flowers that can grow to heights that tower over our heads. Aside from their undeniable beauty, they also make the perfect companion for your next profile picture!

Last year, the Lower Mainland hosted its first-ever Sunflower Festival in Chilliwack from the owners of the massively popular Tulip Festival.

This year, there is not only one but two sunflower festivals to choose from!

The Chilliwack Sunflower Festival is running again for an amazing afternoon in the country, just an hour+ drive away from Downtown Vancouver. Not to be outdone, there is also a new, simultaneous sunflower festival happening in Richmond, still spectacular but a little closer to the city.

Things to Do in Vancouver this Weekend

This weekend is your chance to get a new perspective and hear a voice you may not otherwise with one of the many films at the Vancouver Queer Film Festival. The PNE is also now officially open with rides, weird foods and more; SeaWheeze is on with yoga, a run and an outdoor music festival; and Ambleside Park has the Blue Oyster Cult and Tom Cochrane.

Where has the summer gone!? It seems like June just passed us by, but somehow we find ourselves in the middle of August. Have you been taking advantage of these sunny, hot days of summer?

The big finale of summer in Vancouver comes in the form of the Fair at the PNE, a summer tradition since 1910.

Highlights of this year’s Fair include the “hypnotizingly” amazing Reveen, an immersive “selfie photo” experience, a new star-studded lineup for the Summer Night Concerts series and the medieval-style Knights of Valour jousting show.

But, we all know what’s really the most important part of the PNE: the food! Along with the classic favourites of corn dogs, blooming onions, and everything you can possibly think of deep-fried, there’s some… interesting things… on the menu for PNE 2019!

With a soggy forecast for the next few days, indoor events are all the rage! Luckily, the very popular YVR Take-Off Fridays event is back for the 7th annual summer celebration starting tomorrow, July 8, 2016.

Recently voted the best airport in all of North America, you don’t need any other excuse to spend an afternoon at the airport! Each Friday, from July 8 to August 26, the terminal will be transformed to a family-friendly fun zone with music, entertainment, and lots of free activities.
