40th Vancouver International Wine Festival serves up 82,000 wine glasses; 43,000 bottles of wine

Vancouver’s annual wine lovers’ delight, but dishwashers’ nightmare, is well underway. The 40th Vancouver International Wine Festival, which, according to keynote speaker Paul Wagner of California, is “the largest wine festival in the Western Hemisphere”, is in full swing around town. It’s a great week for wine and food lovers, but not so much for those who have to deal with 82,000 wine glasses by the time the festival wraps up on Sunday. To say nothing of countless plates, cups and cutlery.

Highlights of the 2016 Vancouver International Wine Festival

Tickets are now on sale for the 38th annual Vancouver International Wine Festival. And this year’s spotlight country is one that you may have heard of in regards to wine – Italy.

This means that wines from different regions in the country will be the subject of seminars, dinners and other special events. Of course, wine from a number of other territories will be poured, sipped and savoured by the tens of thousands of oenophiles who flock to this popular event. Top 5 Can’t-Miss Events at the 2013 Vancouver Wine Fest

Tickets have just gone on sale for the 35th Vancouver International Wine Fest.  For a full week (Feb. 25-March 3), the city will be awash in wine tastings and wine-paired dinners, lunches and brunches.  The focus this year is on those delicious California wines from south of the border, with a special highlight on everyone’s favourite white wine, Chardonnay.

The Wine Fest is jam-packed with 55 different events that draw some 25,000 attendees.  The most popular events tend to sell out fast, scooped up by Vancouver’s resident oenophiles.  While tickets are still available, here’s a quick look at 5 can’t-miss events this year.
