If Halloween is a little too scary for your tastes, VanDusen Botanical Garden in Vancouver will be the place to celebrate the season without the usual chainsaws, fake blood, and costumed clowns… From October 24 – October 31, 2017 from 5:00pm to 9:00pm daily VanDusen Botanical Garden will be hosting “Glow in the Garden”, a whimsical garden adventure inspired by Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.

You’re invited to take a trip through the looking glass on what will surely be an unforgettable Halloween walk in the woods at VanDusen Botanical Garden.

Experience an unforgettable Halloween walk in the woods at VanDusen Botanical Garden as it comes to life with spellbinding lights, ghoulish music and glowing pumpkin characters created by award-winning carvers, Clive Cooper and Bruce Waugh. After the walk, costumed kids will enjoy creating fun Halloween crafts inside and parents can pick up a pumpkin and hot apple cider at the Taves Family Farms pop-up shop on the plaza. Free Admission & Thousands of Plants at the VanDusen Gardens Plant Sale

The VanDusen Botanical Garden will be buzzing with more than bees this weekend as thousands of avid gardeners descend on the hotly anticipated VanDusen Plant Sale. This free event takes place on Sunday, April 24th and typically attracts over 10,000 people looking for great deals on over 20,000 plants.

The sale lasts for just one day and is only made possible by the 400 volunteers that pitch in to help with the event. Best of all, admission is 100% free, so after checking out the plants (and the crowd) you can take a quick wander around the beautiful gardens.

Best Kissing Spots at Festival of Lights: Romance at VanDusen Botanical Garden

The first time my boyfriend (“S”) and I kissed was after watching an episode of Game of Thrones in my apartment about two months after our initial date (it was a long wait since he was living in Fort McMurray at the time). Call me old fashioned, but in this age of hyper-speed Tindering and hooking-up, I still believe in the romance of the first kiss.

During a recent visit with S to the Festival of Lights at VanDusen Botanical Garden, as we wandered together around the many pathways, I got to thinking about first kisses and Christmas lights. Why are first kisses so important? And why do we love things that sparkle so much?

Get your wheelbarrow ready! This weekend the VanDusen Botanical Garden is hosting their incredibly popular annual plant sale that attracts more than 10,000 people looking to score some sweet deals on over 20,000 plants! This sale is one day only, on Sunday April 26, 2015 and is held from 10am to 4pm on the Great Lawn.

Best of all, admittance to the annual plant sale is 100% free, so even if you’re not shopping for plants, it’s a great opportunity to see what’s available (orchids are cheap!), watch the crowds fighting over the last tomato plant, or learn more about planting mushrooms. Plus, entry to the VanDusen Botanical Garden is free (for this one day only!) so you can take a stroll around the gardens after picking up a few plants.
