The 17th annual Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival (VCBF) is back this spring with a wide array of programming taking place from April 1-23. Signature outdoor events under the cherry blossoms include guided tree walks, group bike rides, live music, a group picnic, and local food.

Spring is officially here and the first signs of cherry blossoms in Vancouver are beginning to appear! The Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival (VCBF) is the city’s signature springtime event, waking the city up from winter hibernation with an explosion of some 41,000 blossoming cherry trees.

With bright, cheerful blossoms are a welcome reminder that the long, cold winter is finally nearing its end! (Especially now that the forecast of snow has been removed from the 7-day Vancouver weather forecast).

The Cherry Blossom Festival officially kicks off this April and there are several events to celebrate the occasion. Take a look at some of the highlights below from the upcoming 2018 Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival…

Top 5 Event Highlights Scheduled for the 2017 Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival

After this dark, wet and unexpectedly snowy winter, cherry blossoms are one of the first cheerful signs of the fast approaching spring season. Unlike last year’s early bloom, the stars of the 2017 Cherry Blossom Festival should be arriving on time at the beginning of April.

Vancouver’s signature springtime event wakes the city up from winter hibernation with an explosion of around 41,000 blossoming cherry trees around the city. April marks the month of the blossom and will features over 20 public, mostly free, arts and cultural community events. So stuff your winter coat into the back of the closet and get out your camera because the Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival is here again!

The Best Places to see Cherry Blossoms in Vancouver

As the rainy season comes to an end, it seems like the whole city is celebrating by coming into bloom with beautiful, white, puffy flowers. Amazingly, there are over 2,100 locations in Vancouver that host cheerful cherry blossom trees, lighting up the streets and painting neighbourhoods in awash of colours from a blush of pink to pure snow white.

But, if you’re on the hunt for the perfect place to see cherry blossoms in Vancouver for your next photo-op, check out the list below and get your camera ready. While the flowers still look amazing on cloudy days, it’s always best to go when the clouds are gone and the sun is shining. Pink blossoms and blue skies just go together!

Blossom Barge coming to Vancouver this April

It’s already feeling like Spring is in the air with the last few days of sunny, warm weather. So, it’s no surprise that news about the upcoming 10th Anniversary of the Cherry Blossom Festival is starting to hit local blogs. There are now only two months left until the unofficial start of Springtime in Vancouver!

New this year, the 2016 Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival has announced that they will be creating a Blossom Barge, a multi-day floating spectacle that will have 40 beautiful cherry blossoms on the last place you’d expect them to be, in the sea!
