It shouldn’t come as much of a surprise that the YVR Vancouver International Airport is known as being one of the best airports in the world. In fact, YVR was named ‘Best Airport in North America’ in a vote by 13.8 million airline passengers worldwide!

Officially, Vancouver has been ranked the #13 top airport in the world, listed closely behind airports in Singapore, Tokyo, Zurich, and England. But, YVR easily tops the list of North American airports – it isn’t until #26 (Cincinnati/Kentucky) that we see another North American airport listed in the awards.

Best of all, YVR has made the remarkable distinction of receiving this top accolade for eight consecutive years! An amazing feat when you consider the competition.

Ever want to eat dinner in the home of a complete stranger? Now’s your chance.

#dinnerpartyYVR is back for its third year, this Saturday, March 28.  More than 50 hobby chefs across Vancouver are inviting diners into their homes for a multi-course meal. The $40 price tag includes a home-cooked feast complete with wine or beer, and all proceeds go to charities.

The idea is to connect people who love to cook with people who love to eat, bringing Vancouver a little closer together in the process. The event doubled in size this year, with dozens of home chefs applying to host dinners. The meals are all intimate affairs, with seating for four to ten people.  Continue reading:

Vancouver’s YVR Airport Gets Domestic Terminal Facelift

A $5 fee here, a $20 fee there … and suddenly you have a new $213-million domestic terminal area.

A new section of Vancouver International Airport’s domestic terminal is now open for business, featuring new shops, gates, lounges and artwork. The improvements were paid for by YVR’s airport improvement fee ($5 for flights within BC or the Yukon; $20 for flights elsewhere), which is automatically added onto ticket prices when you use the airport.

The new section of the 1968 terminal is known as the A-B Connector. In the past, passengers arriving from certain areas – like Prince George or Nanaimo – would have to go through security all over again before continuing to their next stop.  Now, however, they can breeze through the A-B Connector and skip the security lines.

But given the new shops and services inside the A-B Connector, they might just want to stay and linger awhile.   Continue reading:
