Wine for a Good Cause: GrapeJuice Wine Auction

A reminder to wine lovers:  The annual GrapeJuice charity wine auction is tomorrow  in Yaletown, offering oenophiles the chance to score some rare bottles while also supporting a good cause.

Proceeds from the event, which is in its third year, benefit the Big Sisters of BC’s Lower Mainland.  The organization matches volunteer mentors with young girls looking for role models.  While the “big sisters” themselves volunteer their time, the costs of administering the program and funding activities comes out to around $2,000 per child every year.  The wine auction helps offset those costs.

This year, GrapeJuice is being held at V at Earl’s Yaletown, the slick 195-seat vodka bar upstairs from the main restaurant.  The bidding starts tomorrow night (Thursday, May 6) at 5 p.m. and continues into the evening.   Organizers promise that a selection of “unique and exclusive wines from around the world” will be up for grabs.

At $100 per person,  tickets for the event aren’t cheap, but the price includes wine tasting and hors d’oeuvres and, of course, it all benefits a worthy cause.
