Granville Island Water Park – Free Summer Fun for Kids

Remember when you were a kid and you cooled off on hot summer days by running through the sprinkler in the front yard? Now imagine the biggest, most awesome sprinkler and a yard complete with slides and pipes and brightly-coloured fountains—that’s the Granville Island Water Park.

The largest free water park in North America, the Granville Island Water Park is just one of Vancouver’s free water/spray parks (there’s another in Stanley Park by Second Beach Pool), but it’s by far the best.

Not only is it huge, its equipped with a water slide, gushing geysers, and water pipes. Plus, it’s on Granville Island, which means a few hours at the water park can easily expand into an entire day of free and cheap fun: Families can explore the Granville Island Public Market and the jam-packed Kids Market, take a boat ride on the Aquabus, or walk/bike east along the seawall (Island Park Walk) for fabulous views of the downtown core.

The complete Granville Island Water Park is open June 29 – September 6, 2010; the Spray Park & yellow slide are open weekdays June 21 – August 25, 2010.
