Growing Chefs! Fundraiser with Meeru of Vij’s Restaurant

On Friday, November 19, Growing Chefs! presents an evening of cooking, sampling and learning with Meeru Dhalwala (of Vij’s Restaurant). “Growing Chefs! is a non-profit society that unites chefs, growers, educators, and community members in a food sustainability project.”

Meeru, co-owner of Vij’s and Rangoli restaurants and co-author of Vij’s at Home, will share some of her cooking techniques, recipes and ideas on how to feed your family healthy and delicious Indian meals on a limited budget.

Meeru will answer your questions, showcase her family’s butter chicken schnitzel recipe (and organic chickpea curry), and talk about her 15 years of experience with food and cooking.

The inspiration for Butter Chicken Schnitzel recipe comes from a common family challenge: the desire for healthy meals versus the desire to eat pizza, pasta and chicken nuggets.  This issue is not just about the children who need to eat healthy; it’s also about the adults who find cooking difficult or overwhelming.

Your ticket to this event includes tasting samples and wine as well as a copy of Vij’s at Home: Relax, Honey; The Warmth and Ease of Indian Cooking. All proceeds will be donated to Growing Chefs!

The cookbook you will receive!

To register for this event, please contact Britannia Community Centre on 604.718.5800, or drop by and visit them in person at 1661 Napier Street. Tickets are $60 and the event runs from 7:00pm to 9:00pm on Friday, November 19.
