Family-Friendly New Year’s Eve: Whistler’s First Night 2011

For anyone over 19, finding a fun way to ring in the New Year in Vancouver is easy; just see Julia’s post on New Year’s Eve 2011 in Vancouver: Top 10 Events. But what about families with young children who want to celebrate together? Or friends who would like to welcome 2011 without being surrounded by a boozy crowd?

For a family-friendly New Year’s Eve 2011—one without alcohol—head up to Whistler Village for the famous Whistler’s First Night 2011, a New Year’s Eve Celebration that takes over Whistler’s Village Square and the Conference Center from 6pm – 12:15am this Friday, December 31.

Whistler’s First Night is an exuberant night of fun for all ages, with live entertainment that includes performances by Five Alarm Funk and Brother Twang, a Creative Zone, complete with jugglers, clowns, face-painting, bouncing castles and crafts, and a Much Music Dance Party for youth under 19. There’s even a fireworks display that lights up the mountains!

Tickets to Whistler’s First Night 2011 are $20 for adults and $10 for kids 12 and under; kids 2 and under are FREE.  See the site for advance ticket sales discounts.
