Featured Vancouverite: Matt Corker

Hometown: Aurora, Ontario — just north of Toronto.

How long have you been a Vancouverite? 7 years this September

I help people live a life that they love. I do that as a Leadership Development Advisor for lululemon athletica where I empower great people to achieve their dreams, and as the Champion of Community for NoMoSolo where I help partner happy people offline. Both of these roles allow me to work with amazing people, to create things that are remarkable, and to wake up every day wearing a smile!

Favourite place in the city:
The False Creek Seawall that stretches from Kitsilano Beach, by Granville Island and Science World, to English Bay. It’s my favourite place to go for a run, a casual stroll, or to sit and watch the sunset.

Best way to spend a Saturday in the city:
After sleeping in, I’d start my Saturday with brunch with some friends at Caffe Barney on Granville Street. After that, I’d either strap on my sneakers for a run by the beach, or I’d grab my helmet to go for a ride around the city on my bike. If the weather wasn’t holding up, I’d even substitute an outdoor adventure for a great yoga class at a YYoga studio. Dinner on Granville Island would then be followed by a play at the Arts Club Theatre or a hilarious improv performance at TheatreSports. Food, sweat, and big belly laughs—what more could I ask for?

Favourite Vancouver event:
NoMoSolo hosts events where fun and fabulous people (who just happen to be single) can connect. It’s the start of a happiness movement! You can check the NoMoSolo website for upcoming events, join us our Facebook page, and follow us on our Twitter page.

Top insider tip for visitors:
Deep Cove in North Vancouver is where everyone likes take their kayaks for an afternoon on the ocean. My secret spot for great kayaking is Cates Park, just 10 minutes west of Deep Cove. Avoid the long lines and sold out stock and head to Cate’s Park instead. You won’t regret it!

  1. I would love to suggest Dean Osmon or Deborah Barnett from InspirationALL Talent. Dean himself has started the agency and is a wonderful, positive representation of the typical Vancouverite. InspirationALL talent promotes people of ALL body types and ages, everyone is beautiful to them! I think this is the best up and coming agency Vancouver has and it’s definitely going to be the next best thing as it is setting the new standard.

    • Thanks Alice! I’ll get in touch with Dean and Deborah this weekend to see if either are up for being featured.
