For an out-of-towner, definitely go to Granville Island. Either pick up fresh picnic items and sit by the water, or if you want a unique experience go to the Dockside at the Granville Island Hotel. The view is spectacular. From there you can take the little ferry over to the other side and walk around English Bay for a real treat. Great people watching! Just an idea.
