True, pre-Christmas sales have been building steam for the last few years, but nothing beats Boxing Day price slashing. Sales start Dec. 26, one of the most frenzied shopping days of the year, and continue through the end of the week.

For many, the day after Christmas is about squeezing in one more Scrabble victory against your little brother, or catching a family movie. For others, Christmas presents are just an amuse bouche before the main shopping meal Dec. 26.

This year, with many Boxing Day sales starting early on the web, having family time while taking advantage of bargains is a real option. Read on to get scoop on the Vancouver web and in-store deals.

The Bay

The Bay’s downtown location, which will open early at 8:00 a.m. and stay open until 7:00 p.m. on Boxing Day, will have their usual range of mega-bargains. You can also expect early Boxing Day sales on orders from Thebay.com where clothing by brands including Esprit, Moon, Dex, Karen Scott, Bianca Nygard, Calvin Klein underwear, Iris & Ivy, and more are already up to 50% off. Designer bags and wallets are up to 30% off.

Leone

The posher the brand, the better it feels to save. Leone, Vancouver’s hotspot for bigwig labels, has Boxing Week promos of 50-60% off on Burberry, Versace, Trina Turk, Pringle of Scotland, Moschino Cheap and Chic, Diesel, True Religion and more, starting at 9:00 a.m. December 26. Get the full details here.

Harry Rosen

Harry Rosen, refuge for Vancouver’s sleek male sophisticates, is already pushing Boxing Day sales online. Scoop up Salvatore Ferragamo hiking boots and dress shoes for a song. There’s also great bargains on Robert Graham shirts, Goorin Bros. hats, Burberry Brit ties, Boss leather gloves and Michael Kors sweaters. Harry Rosen’s two locations at Pacific Centre and Oakridge open at 8:00 a.m. and close at 7:00 p.m. on December 26.

Pacific Centre and Metropolis at Metrotown

The swiftest way to take advantage of Boxing Day bargains is to hit up a shopping mall. Yes, everyone else will be thinking the same thing. If you brave the scene, take deep breaths and channel Miss Manners.

Both the Pacific Centre (over 100 stores including Holt Renfrew) and Metropolis at Metrotown (400 shops) will be brimming with deals and eager shoppers. You can check out promotion details for individual stores at the Pacific Centre and Metropolis at Metrotown websites. Both will be open 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., December 26.
