Easter is fast approaching—it falls on Sunday, April 8 this year—and some of Vancouver’s best Easter events, like VanDusen Botanical Garden’s A-Mazing Egg Hunt, have already sold out! But never fear: There are still lots of fabulous, fun ways to celebrate Easter in Vancouver, from train rides and Easter egg hunts to free family activities.

1. Easter in the Park: Easter at the Stanley Park Miniature TrainApril 6 – 9, 2012
The Stanley Park Miniature Train, which famously goes all out for the holidays with its Christmas-themed Bright Nights and Halloween’s Ghost Train, opens every April just to celebrate Easter. Festivities include train rides, Easter egg hunts, visits with the Easter Bunny, puppet shows, and more. Bring your own Easter basket to collect the eggs!

2. Easter Scavenger Hunt at the Gulf of Georgia CanneryApril 7, 2012
A National Historic Site, Richmond’s Gulf of Georgia Cannery celebrates Easter with a Easter-themed scavenger hunt through the cannery. Every kid who completes the hunt gets a chocolate treat bag.

3. Easter at Lonsdale QuayApril 8, 2012FREE
North Vancouver’s Lonsdale Quay celebrates Easter with free fun for the whole family, including a Cobb’s Bread Easter Egg Hunt, a visit from the Easter Bunny (at 1pm), and kids’ craft activities.

4. Easter at Grouse MountainApril 8, 2012
Easter atop Grouse Mountain is primarily focused on their famous Easter Brunch (a three-course prix fixe menu and a children’s buffet), but it also features an exciting Easter egg hunt led by the Easter Bunny himself. Costs for the Easter Brunch and egg hunt include general admission to Grouse Mountain.

5. Easter Dino Egg Hunt at the Britannia Mine MuseumApril 8, 2012
The Britannia Mine Museum brings back its unique take on Easter with a “dinosaur egg” hunt and—instead of the Easter Bunny—the friendly Britanniasaurus Rex. After the Easter festivities, visitors can enjoy the whole museum, ride the underground mine train and pan for gold.

6. Easter at Fort Langley National Historic SiteApril 8, 2012
Bring a basket for the NEW outdoor Easter Egg Hunt at 1 pm sharp and lasts
until all the eggs are found – be sure to arrive early to get admission. The
hunt will take place around the grounds within the fort walls. A relaxed
Easter Scavenger Hunt will also be offered from 10 am to 5 pm, where every
child receives a treat, and fun Easter crafts and games. The Full Barrel Café
will be open for Easter Brunch from 10 am to 4 pm.
