Fabulous New Year’s Eve Dinner Options in Vancouver

Over the course of this year, Vancouver restaurants have continued to showcase the incredible talent of its kitchens in crafting phenomenal food. A memorable way to ring in the New Year is to enjoy a special meal at one of the city’s numerous top-notch dining establishments—with bubbly in hand to toast to 2024.

Here is a selection of restaurants in town who are hosting special New Year’s Eve dinners for a delicious ushering in of the New Year.

Sequoia Company of Restaurants

Vancouver’s scenery would be a gorgeous back-drop for your New Year’s Eve festivities. The Sequoia Company of Restaurants specializes in restaurants with a view in prime locations across the city. They also are well known for their refined, yet accessible West Coast cuisine, which highlights local ingredients. Both Seasons in the Park and the Teahouse in Stanley Park are offering three-course menus ($99 per person), which feature diners’ favourite dishes. At Seasons, for example, you can start with an amuse of a mini Dungeness crab cake with chipotle aioli before enjoying items such mushrooms stuffed with crab, shrimp, and cream cheese; 7oz beef tenderloin with a lobster tail, parmesan roasted potatoes, drawn butter, broccolini, and demi-glace; and a chocolate lava cake with vanilla gelato. The Teahouse will offer a similar menu, with dishes such as lobster bisque with crème fraîche and poached prawn; crab crusted Chilean seabass with lemon risotto cake, charred broccolini, and dill lemon beurre blanc; and a warm saffron glazed pear tart with vanilla gelato. Meanwhile, The Sandbar and Cardero’s will feature celebratory features, such as lobster paella (The Sandbar) and slow-roasted prime rib (Cardero’s).

Provence Marinaside

There are lovely views aplenty at Provence Marinaside, located on the Yaletown seawall. While you listen to tunes from Gary Comeau and a music trio, you can dine on selections from either their special à la carte menu, or their three-course prix fixe menu ($80 per person with $70 suggested wine pairings). The à la carte menu will feature all the classic Provence dishes that diners have come to love, including lobster bisque with lobster meat and chive Chantilly; roasted Frenched rack of lamb crusted with Dijon and fresh herbs and served with Brussels sprouts, potato fondant, and lamb jus; and a seafood platter with half a lobster tail, prawns, scallops, mussels, clams, fish, seasonable vegetables, and fingerling potatoes.

The prix-fixe menu spans similar options, ranging from crab and shrimp cakes with a Belgian endive and mixed greens salad, yuzu tobiko, and lemon mayo, to seared sablefish with shaved black truffle, leeks, Yukon gold potatoes, and parmentier broth. There will be plenty of dessert selections, like tarte au citron, crème caramel, and fondant au chocolat.

Brass Fish Tavern

What could be more fitting for New Year’s Eve than a supper club experience? Brass Fish Tavern, located in the heart of Vancouver’s financial district, is holding Supperclub NYE 24, which features a reasonably-priced three-course menu ($75 per person, 6pm start), special cocktail features, as well as a live three-piece jazz band to complete the experience. The meal begins with a choice between prosciutto with burrata, pistachios, arugula, and blood orange vinaigrette; freshly shucked oysters with yuzu, smoked onion, and tobiko; and roasted scallop with Vadouvan beurre blanc, fennel mostarda, Granny Smith apple, and smoked trout roe. The main course offers four options, including miso glazed sablefish in hot and sour broth with mirepoix and maitake; and pan seared beef tenderloin with madeira sauce, truffle pomme purée, and swiss chard. And finally, end the meal with either banana cream French toast or Gianduja chocolate mousse. Starting 9pm, you can reserve for a post-dinner celebration ($30 per person), which comes with live music and a DJ, party favours, and a champagne toast at the close of the year.

Water Street Café

The beloved Water Street Café in historic Gastown will make for an unforgettable way to celebrate New Year’s Eve. The iconic restaurant, specializing in West Coast Italian cuisine, is offering two ways to feast on December 31: the first will be located in their street-level dining room, either with their curated à la carte menu, or a four-course menu ($89 per person). For the prix-fixe menu, you’ll sup on dishes such as butternut squash bisque; porchetta with sweet corn, braised fennel salad, sweet potato and yam pave, and salsa verde; and lemon sorbet with seasonal berries and limoncello cookies. If you reserve after 8pm, you’ll also get complimentary prosecco and party favours for midnight cheering.

Otherwise, if you’re looking for more of a supper club outing ($159 per person), head to their second floor for a six-course meal, live music from artist JP Maurice (indie alt pop rock), bubbles at midnight, and party favours.

Acquafarina

If you’re looking to treat yourself to a lavish New Year’s Eve dinner, Acquafarina (Michelin-recommended) has dreamt up the ultimate multi-course meal. Tickets for their Tier One ($199 per person) are currently on sale, with prices set to increase shortly. The luxuriant seven-course meal will begin with a caviar snack platter before progressing on to dishes such as elk tartare with focaccia and black truffle; Hokkaido uni linguine with oyster and saffron cream; roasted wagyu Tajima with porcini jus; and panettone with panettone cream, meringue, and Remy Martin Louis XIII Cognac. Look out for the Remy Martin and Caviar Cart, with Louis XIII and grade A sturgeon caviar (1.1 kg). In addition, live music will be provided by Mr. Dave Martone and Carmelina Cupo.

The Belgard Kitchen

In the inviting space of the Settlement Building, get cozy with family and friends with a cosseting Best of Belgard Tasting Menu ($55 per person). The Belgard Kitchen in Railtown is hosting “Hey, 2024! NYE at Belgard,” a friendly and tasty way to celebrate the New Year. After an amuse bouche, you’ll move through three courses, starting with a choice between beets by Belgard, wagyu carpaccio, and mushroom and bacon toast. Then, you’ll feast on either duck rigatoni, scallop risotto (can be made vegetarian), steelhead trout, or smoked brisket. Dessert is pumpkin cheesecake, black cardamom chocolate cake, or strawberry and champagne sorbet. Add roasted cauliflower or Brussels sprouts to get your veggies in before the year concludes.

PiDGiN

Now a decade strong, PiDGiN is pulling out all the stops for their NYE dinner ($165 per person). This Michelin-recommended spot, located roughly in between Gastown and Chinatown, seamlessly melds French and Asian culinary influences. The seven-course menu highlights local ingredients as well as the expert craft of the kitchen, including the sushi-making techniques of Senior Sous Chef Shin Sato. The meal will commence with smoked chutoro nigiri with caviar before taking you on a journey through dishes such as scallop ravioli with ginger butter sauce and tobiko, BC sablefish with cucumber, cabbage, turnip, and mizori an, and a vanilla bavarois and Szechuan pepper beignet for your last course. Suggested sake and wine pairings are also available.

Glowbal

Glowbal is doing New Year’s up big with both an early seating menu as well as a gala dinner. The former runs from 4 to 7pm on December 31, during which you will be able to order from a special à la carte menu, which includes some lavish options, such as a chilled caviar and seafood platter (Northern Divine caviar, jumbo prawn cocktail, kusshi oysters, whole lobster, albacore tuna, and scallop crudo); a 54 oz beef tomahawk with garlic butter and gruyere sourdough and roasted vegetables; and whole Canadian lobster with black tagliatelle, spicy tomato vodka sauce, bay scallops, and prawns. Otherwise, book their Gala Dinner (starting at 8pm, $168 per person). You’ll arrive and receive a glass of sparkling wine and amuse bouches. Then, it will be a decadent three-course meal with items like seared Hokkaido scallops with Kaluga caviar, winter squash, and spiced pepitas; pan-roasted Pacific seabass with truffle beurre blanc, gnocchi, and braised winter greens; and chocolate bavarois. The Gala Dinner includes live entertainment and a balloon drop at midnight.

Botanist

Michelin-recommended Botanist in the Fairmont Pacific Rim is playfully hosting “Resolutions Can Wait: New Year’s Eve at Botanist.” Their signature “We’ll Take It From Here” menu will be receiving a NYE spin, with an inventive and beautiful multi-course meal ($178 per person, $220 for premium wine or champagne pairings). Organized according to sourcing themes (e.g., gather, catch, hunt), the menu begins with crispy chicken wingettes with fine herbs, mojo de ajo, and Northern Divine caviar. Other menu highlights include grilled octopus with xo sauce, cilantro, kombu, and daikon; and smoked dry-aged duck breast with carrot, duck leg confit, and foie jus. Dessert will be champagne mousse with blackcurrant curd, chocolate sable, and Kir Royale sorbet.

C|Prime

C|Prime, an elegant steakhouse with Italian culinary influence, is bringing together good food, live entertainment, and conviviality for their New Year’s Eve dinner. The four-course meal ($190 per person), includes an arrival drink and features luxury classics, starting with an amuse of caviar, and then moving on to seared scallops. The next course is raviolo tartufo, before you choose between beef wellington or sablefish wellington. You’ll end your meal with baked Alaska or a chocolate bar—and petit fours. And when the clock strikes midnight, there will be a champagne toast.
