About Portobello West:

Created in 2006 by Carlie Smith and inspired by the famous artisan markets of Europe, Portobello West’s goal is to introduce Vancouver’s style conscious shoppers to the creative artisans and designers working here.

Now operating as a not-for-profit society headed up by a board of directors and a market manager, Portobello West remains Vancouver’s premiere fashion and art market.

Their goal is to create a legion of shoppers that are committed to purchasing from their amazing Canadian and Pacific Northwest designers, artists, and producers. They promise to create an atmosphere of exploration and excitement with over 50 vendors at their seasonal Portobello West Markets.

Their Mission:

  • To provide a venue for artisans to show and sell their work
  • To facilitate artists and assist them in developing a successful and sustainable business
  • To provide educational tools to prepare artisans for the marketplace
  • To work with artisans and develop programs to assist with their business
