Cirque du Soleil Returns to Vancouver May 2014

Cirque du Soleil returns to Vancouver next May with TOTEM. Cirque’s familiar blue and yellow big top will grace Concord Pacific Place once again, with the promise of a fascinating journey into the evolution of mankind. Based on several founding myths, TOTEM takes the audience on a journey from the human species’ original amphibian state to its ultimate desire to fly. Somewhere in between science and legend lies Man’s ties to other species, his dreams, and his infinite potential. Through a visual and acrobatic experience, TOTEM will explore these binds and tell the story of humanity’s evolutionary progress.

TOTEM, which first opened in 2010 in Montreal, won the 2013 Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Unique Theatrical Experience. The show features hoops dancers, bars (carapace), unicycles and bowls, hand balancing, and Russian bars. The characters of TOTEM evolve on a stage resembling a giant turtle, the symbol of origin for many ancient civilizations.

TOTEM opens at Concord Pacific Place on May 15th, 2014 and runs until June 15th, 2014. Tickets go on sale this Friday, December 13th, though tickets are already available for Cirque Club members.

For more information and for ticket sales, please visit the official TOTEM show website.
