Vancouver is getting a little Irish this Sunday when the streets are turned green to celebrate the upcoming St. Patrick’s Day festivities. (*Note: streets will not actually be turning green…).

As a finale hurrah to the Vancouver Celtic Festival that has been going on from March 8-16, Vancouver will be hosting the 10th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Sunday, March 16th at 11:00am.

This incredibly popular, free event draws people from all cultures, backgrounds, ages, and walks of life to celebrate the Irish spirit. With a colourful (and very green) display of fabulous sight and sound, the Vancouver St. Patrick’s Day Parade is a fun spectacle for adults and kids alike.

The St. Patrick’s Day Parade will begin at 11:00am on Howe and Davie, proceeding North along Howe to Georgia, and ending at Georgia & Granville Street. Click on the map below to view the parade route and street closures:

Organizers are estimating that around 200,000 people will be heading to the Downtown core to cheer on the 2,000+ parade participants, which will include: award-winning pipe and drum bands, Celtic musicians, Scottish and Irish dancers, acrobats, stilt walkers, vintage cars, the Vancouver police motorcycle drill team and pipe band, fire and police dogs,  mounted horse drill teams, multi-cultural organizations and performers, local businesses, distinguished guests and many more.

After the parade, be sure to check out the CelticFest Village Street Market until 5:00pm for live music, medieval sword fighting, dancing, as well as artisan and craft booths.
