With Friday being Halloween and the weather forecast calling for chilly weather and light rain conditions, you may prefer to bring your trick or treating indoors. Several malls in Vancouver will be offering free trick or treating in their covered, warm, brightly-lit locations.

If you’re looking for some safe trick or treating alternatives in Vancouver that don’t require traipsing through dark neighborhoods in the cold, we’ve got a few ideas for you:

Halloween in Yaletown

This free event put on by the Yaletown BIA is very popular in Vancouver. Kids can trick or treat at businesses from Homer Street to Pacific Boulevard, then enjoy a Halloween Carnival at the Yaletown Roundhouse Community Centre. The carnival costs $6/child and includes ghoulish games and creepy crafts as well as a “Creepy Hollow” forest full of spooky surprises and other fun activities. Trick or Treating around Yaletown begins early, around 3:30pm until 5:30pm, so it’s great for young kids who can’t stay up too late. The carnival runs until 7:30pm. Full details about Halloween in Yaletown are located here.

Oakridge Mall (accessible via Canada Line)

Oakridge Centre has chosen not to give out Halloween candy this year, and there will be no entertainment stage. Instead, the mall is inviting you to make memories by visiting their giant jack o’lantern display and take part in a Spooky Selfie Contest for a $250 gift card. If the lack of candy doesn’t bother you or your kids, this is a great place to go to check out other costumes and the intricately carved pumpkins. More information is located here.

Aberdeen Centre in Richmond

Trick or treating will be happening all throughout Aberdeen Centre at participating stores from 3pm – 7pm on Friday night. You can also get free admission to The Final Escape, a spooky adventure for kids to enjoy.

Park Royal Mall in West Vancouver

Trick or treating will take place at Park Royal on Friday, October 31 from 3:30PM – 5:30PM throughout the North, South and The Village areas. Bring your dressed up kiddies to Park Royal and have their goodie bags filled up with treats from participating retailers before doing any outdoor trick or treating.

Capilano Mall in North Vancouver

Capilano Mall will also be hosting mall-wide trick or treating for the little ones on October 31st from 3pm – 4pm. Come dressed to impress!

Known as one of the best spots for Halloween, this street gets tricked out for Halloween with elaborate outdoor displays, and residents report that up to 800 trick or treaters come by on Halloween night.
