It’s no secret that the winter season is sneaking up on us in Vancouver. The days are getting colder and the tell-tale signs of frost on the ground and sprinklings of snow on the mountains are just the beginning of the holiday season.

The cold snap has allowed Grouse Mountain to officially open their 8,000-square foot ice skating pond, the only mountaintop outdoor skate pond in the lower mainland.

From 9:00 am until 10:00 pm daily, the skating rink is open for anyone looking to do a few figure-eights on the rink. Ice skating is complimentary with a Grouse Mountain Alpine Experience ticket (prices range from $13.95 – $41.95), membership, lift ticket, or winter pass and you can bring your own skates or rent a pair for $8.

Doing laps around the mountaintop ice skating pond is a great winter experience in Vancouver. Take a spin before sitting by the fire pits or get a bit of exercise in before tucking into a delicious pound of fries in the Peak Chalet.

The skating pond will remain open as long as temperatures allow during the winter months. You can always check out their current conditions to make sure it’s open.

With the sunny days, the ice skating pond is a great excuse to start getting into the holiday spirit. Perfect for a date night or as a place to take the kids, the Grouse Mountain skating pond is one of the prettiest spots to skate in Vancouver.

For the latest in snow and weather conditions, you can visit grousemountain.com or call their snowphone at 604-986-6262.
