On December 31st, New Year’s Eve revelers in Vancouver will be getting a free ride — on BC Transit, that is. Translink will be providing free rides for bus, Skytrain, SeaBus and West Coast Express services!

Free fares will start at 5:00 pm on December 31st and will go until 5:00 am on January 1st. So, if you’re planning on going to a little shindig around town, make transit your first choice for transportation!

On New Year’s Eve, Transit will be offering free rides as well as extended service. Bus service will run its usual weekday schedules with some routes running additional evening/late-night trips after their normal schedules. You can use the convenient Trip Planner to plan your route.

The Skytrain will also be running its usual weekday schedule, and service will be extended by an hour. The last Expo Line train to King George will leave Waterfront at 2:16 a.m., while the last Canada Line train leaves Waterfront at 2:05 a.m. (to YVR) and 2:15 a.m. (to Richmond-Brighouse).

The SeaBus, which connects North Vancouver to Downtown, will also be extending its service. The last sailing from Lonsdale Quay will depart at 2 am and Waterfront at 2:20am.

If you are still out after 2:00am, there are plenty of buses running late into the night to get you home before the birds start chirping. The extended service schedule is located here.
