The Golden Globes are known as the “fun awards”… The Academy Award’s little brother who likes to get drunk and laugh the night away. This Sunday’s Golden Globes kicks off the awards season with a fun show that highlights the top films and TV shows of 2014. Best of all, this year’s Golden Globes will again be hosted by comedy power-duo Amy Poehler and Tina Fey.

Part of the fun of watching any awards show is getting together with your friends to comment on what everyone’s wearing, shout about the dramatic losses and wins, and to drink a little too much while enjoying junk food.

The Rio Theatre will be giving you a public venue to enjoy the 72nd Annual Golden Globe Awards at a free event that will bring the golden globes to the big screen.

The Rio Theatre’s free, live broadcast of the Golden Globe awards will be held on Sunday, January 11th starting at 3:30pm, and it’s sure to be a party! The Rio will broadcast the pre-show, so you’ll be able to see the best and worst of the red carpet, followed by the awards ceremony beginning at 5pm.

This is a licensed event with bar service, so you don’t have to worry about being without a glass of wine to sweeten up the show. Rio Theatre also offers snacks you would expect to find at a movie theatre, with the awesome addition of grilled cheese and super-addictive popcorn.

As a bonus, there will also be contests held during commercial breaks to ensure that you’re constantly entertained. Forget watching the Golden Globes at home or in a hotel room, you’ve got to join the party! It’s what the stars would want… really.

Make sure to get a ballot going to see how many winners you can get correctly. Some of the nominees for the awards are as follows:
