It’s almost February, and love is in the air – or, at least, Vancouver’s version of it.

Some of the city’s best music and dance talent is coming together for Small Stage point 5  – the valentine’s edition. An eclectic array of artists and genres – electronica, Indian dance, waacking, and more – are combining their skills to give audiences their own unique interpretations of amour.

The showcase will follow Small Stage point 5’s signature formula of pairing dancers with musicians. Teams include DJ/producer and tabla player Tarun “Tspoon” Nayar of Vancouver band Delhi 2 Dublin with Odissi classical Indian dancer Scheherazaad Cooper; Juno-nominated songwriter Tariq Hussain with Ballet BC alumni Chengxin Wei; and singer-songwriter Louise Burns with burlesque dancer and Kitty Nights co-founder Burgundy Brixx.

Additional performers include Mark Andrew Hamilton, Clarence Tang, Andrea Lo, and ballet dancer Karissa Barry. Actor Billy Marchenski will emcee the showcase as a comically inappropriate Cupid, according to the press release.

Small Stage point 5  – the valentine’s edition runs Feb, 12 – 15, 2015 at 8 p.m. at The Emerald (555 Gore St.).
