The Seasons Music Festival has kicked into high gear. Now in its fifth year, the festival began April 1 and runs all weekend until Monday April 5. Featuring some of the biggest and fastest-rising names in contemporary dance music, the festival takes place in clubs around town and, for two raging nights, at the Pacific Coliseum in East Vancouver.

So what are some of the highlights?

Diplo and Swedish producer Eric Prydz headline the flagship Coliseum events on April 3 and 4 respectively. Each day also features a supporting cast of artists such as Dillon Francis, Robin Schulz, Alison Wonderland, Grandtheft and Carnage, Cashmere Cat and Scndl.

Seasons’ city-wide club events include live electronica and hip hop performances as well as top producers manning laptops. Tonight (April 2) you can see a showcase of acts on Vancouver-based label Monstercat at Celebrities (1022 Davie St.). On Friday (April 3), remixer extraordinaire Cyril Hahn is at Fortune Sound Club (147 E. Pender St.). Vancouver electronica act Bear Mountain plays Celebrities April 4.

On April 5, Simon Green, the British producer behind Bonobo, plays a DJ set at Venue (881 Granville St.). Known for pioneering a downtempo sound, Bonobo records like Animal Magic, Days to Come and the most recent, The North Borders are critically acclaimed. Or, if you’re in the mood for a fun, colourful act, catch French pop band Yelle the same night at Fortune Sound Club.
