If it’s true that everyone wants love, then it may also be true that everyone, or at least a lot of people, want to see and hear naked girls reading stories about love.

As a concept, it doesn’t get much simpler than the Naked Girls Reading series. The latest Vancouver edition of the international phenomenon features four dancers from the local burlesque scene reading what are being billed as Tales of Love. So what will it be: 50 Shades of Grey or The Story of O? Lady Chatterley’s Lover or Gone With the Wind?

“The girls are free to interpret and choose their selections as they like,” host and organizer Lydia DeCarllo tells us. “So expect Shakespeare, Edgar Allen Poe, Love in the Time of Cholera, Ada by Nabokov, selections from Angela Carter, and some erotica by Anais Nin. So it’s both classics and a little more racy material, because variety is the spice of life.”

Readers include Nicky Ninedoors, Vanity Feral, Justine Sane and Ava Lure. Past nights in the series have seen Naked Girls Reading Neil Gaiman as well as Naked Girls Reading Zombies.

The last Naked Girls Reading was over two-and-a-half years ago, she adds. “I’m so happy to be re-launching this in Vancouver.”

DeCarllo is planning on re-launching NGR as a monthly series, and says that next month’s event already has a theme: Girls Gone Oscar Wilde.
