Aside from Disney, there is no other collection of animated films loved as widely as Studio Ghibli’s anime feature films that come straight from Tokyo, Japan. The award winning films are beautifully constructed works of art that highlight imaginary worlds full witches, giant rabbit-beasts, robots, and dust balls with eyes.

To celebrate the animated masterpieces, Commercial Drive’s Rio Theatre will be hosting two movie marathons celebrating some of the most popular films to come out of the Studio Ghibli collection. Tonight (May 6th) is the first night of the Studio Ghibli celebration, but after selling out almost instantly, the Rio opted to offer another night dedicated to the beloved movies on Sunday, May 10, 2015 (Mother’s Day!).

Starting at 4:00pm on May 10th, lovers of Ghibli can converge at The Rio Theatre for an evening packed-full of classic films. All of the films will be screened in the original Japanese with English subtitles, so you’ll give your brain a workout at the same time!
