Night at the Aquarium, June 18

There are few places in Vancouver more magical at night than the Vancouver Aquarium. The word “enchanting” comes to mind, with jellyfish glowing as they float against a bright blue backdrop and sharks dancing around each other as the beloved endangered sea turtle, Schoona, sails by.

On Thursday, June 18, the Aquarium will open its doors for a particularly majestic evening – their signature fundraising event, Night at the Aquarium. Now in its ninth year, the gala is a philanthropic event that directly supports the Aquarium’s conservation, research and education programs.

One of these programs is Ocean Wise™, the nationwide sustainable seafood program that counts Vancouver culinary heavyweights like YEW seafood + bar, Forage and Chambar among its partners. Chefs from these restaurants, along with 10 or so others, will be serving up dishes that would satisfy any foodie. Feel like wandering the exhibits with a glass of wine in hand? Take your pick of more than a dozen amazing wines from around the world. Then satisfy your sweet tooth with gelato from Bella Gelateria or chocolate from Daniel Le Chocolat Belge.

Live music and silent and live auctions will make it an entertaining evening, and a memorable one at that. Guests will also be treated to a special program at the dolphin habitat.

Last year, the event raised more than $400,000 for the non-profit society. Tickets for Night at the Aquarium can be purchased here.
