Instagram is one of the most popular social media channels today, it’s a great way to see beautiful pictures of places you’re going to visit, the city you live in, and the food you want to eat.

Vancouver is certainly a wonderful model for the thousands of talented photographers who take dreamy photos of English Bay sunsets, the flashing lights of Downtown, and the truly natural greenery in the mountains.

If you’re looking for some new ideas of where to take some awesome Instagram photos (or just photos in general) this winter season in Vancouver, take a look at the list below:

1. Canyon Lights at the Capilano Suspension Bridge

The millions of twinkling lights up for the holiday season at the Capilano Suspension Bridge make for some absolutely awesome photo opportunities. Touch up on your night photography skills and keeping a steady hand to get some magic moments captured. There’s a good chance you won’t get a shot of the suspension bridge empty like the one above, but if you stay until almost closing time (9pm, anything’s possible!) #canyonlights

2. Grouse Mountain Sunset

The view from Grouse Mountain is fantastic, especially when the sun is setting. In the winter time when the runs are covered in snow, the sun reflects off the ground – making for some very colourful shots. If you have someone doing a trick on a pair of skis or a snowboard in the foreground, even better! #grousemtn

3. The alleyways of Vancouver

If you’re not into nature, some of the best photo opportunities in Vancouver can be found in between the main streets. Sneak into an empty alley every now and then for some great street art surprises. Urban graffiti can add a cool, urban flair to photos that would otherwise just be a picture of some buildings. 4. With a custom-built snowman

It doesn’t snow too often in Vancouver, so when it does – get ready for your Instagram feed to blow up! One fun idea for a photo opportunity is too build a little snowman of your own to be the main subject of your photo. Do you want to build a snowman? Who doesn’t! #frozen

5. On a snowshoeing adventure

Not only is snowshoeing a great adventure, it also provides you with ample opportunities for photo options. There are many places you can go for free snowshoeing, and you can rent a pair from MEC if you don’t have snowshoes of your own. Start exploring the mountain and don’t forget to bring an extra granola bar in case the Whisky Jacks are feeling hungry! #getoutside
